While on a tour with the Harlem Globetrotters to Australia he was recruited to play in the NBL by the Sydney Supersonics. He was a successful player with NBL teams Sydney Supersonics and the Perth Wildcats. At the Wildcats he was club MVP in 1990 and won the NBL Championship in both 1990 and 1991. In 1992 Pinders NBL career came to a stop when he was charged with sexual assault and served a jail sentence.

In 1995 after serving jail time, Tiny was signed by the Wollongong Hawks. He was limited to just 5 games before being let go due to another sexual assault charge. This time he was sentenced to 5 years jail time.

As Pinder has had a lot of off the court issues he is rarely mentioned as one of the greatest NBL players of all time despite being one of the best rebounders of all time.
