The Townsville Crocs are set to announce their newest signing for the 2015-16 season, former St Mary’s big man and Egyptian representative Mar Samhan.

The 6 foot 11 center recently played in the D-League with Texas Legends where in 18 games he averaged 2.3 ppg and 2.6 rpg, playing in just 12 minutes per contest. Before played in the D-League Samhan also played in Germany, Lithuania and Egypt.

Samhan played his college career at St Mary’s where in his senior year he led the WCC in scoring at 21.5 ppg to go along with 11.1 rpg and just under 3 bpg.

Omar joins a long list of St Mary’s alumni that are playing in the NBL. They include Lucas Walker, Daniel Kickert, Stephen Holt, Mitch Young and Clint Stiendl. Other St Mary’s products such as Diamon Simpson and Patty Mills have also played in the NBL recently.

Clinton. There could be a million reasons they didnt sign conklin. Not the right fit. Conklin has signed somewhere else. Kings didnt have the right deal.

In my opinion he was Pattys best college teammate. Better than Simpson. Good hands and feet. Will translate well to NBL.

Ex NBA players means nothing anymore as everybody they bring in is an "ex NBA" player.

Hype is what brings in the marginal basketball fans. For a small league. Ex NBA players are big news and will get bums on seats.

Also no one hyped Conklin coming to the NBL. Infact many thought he would be cut within weeks. He lasted a few seasons, won mvp and all 1st team

So you prefer to not hype players or the league Clinton Gardiner?

Not saying it's the NBLs fault Drew, just saying I'm sick of hearing about ex NBA players & the "hype" they put around it, so many of them now it means nothing anymore.

Yeh because its the NBLs fault an individual club made these decisions.

Why would they cut King a Conk, last seasons MVP, then sign this guy?. This is why the NBL is lame & have no idea.

Looks slow and not very athletic like Schenscher. Has range, but I think he will have trouble with fouls

This guy was signed to play state level bball in Australia, that shows Townsville budget

Wow, 2.3 ppg and 2.6 rpg - I can see why the Crocs were keen to drop Conklin and bring this guy in! \U0001f633\U0001f602

Head scratching on this signing? Clearly finances was the determining factor on this one! Crocs need a scorer, doubt he will do that! We shall see

The teams issue is scoring. If he can get 20 points a game that's great but if he come in and averages single digits in points. He does not help us

We made an offer to a 3 man...who just got cut by Pelicans. It's a long story but ended up with Omar. He'll be great for us,6'11 all night

No question he can ball, but i wonder if the NBL tempo be a problem. If he can adjust, he could be a 20/10 guy given the minutes.

I remember seeing him play at St Mary's and he had good hands and good touch. Interesting stuff
