– Where Basketball never stops

Rookie Report week 8

Name: Anatoly Bose
Team: Sydney Kings
Position: Forward
Height: 6ft 6
Rookie Rank: #1
Last Week: #1
Bose really stepped it up this week and got back to his potential ROTY best! He had a quiet game against the Melbourne Tigers on Friday night in under 22 minutes he only scored 4 points to go with  3 rebounds. But the most concerning stat from that game was his 17% from the field (1/6). The Kings walked out of the cage with a win that night though thanks to Grant, Madgen, Bruce & JK.
Next game in Perth though was a different story, Anatoly played well in the 11 point loss. He scored  22 points to go with 7 rebounds, 2 steals & 1 block. His energy was welcomed during the Kings 3rd quarter run & even though the Kings lost the game, they all played hard. Including Bose. look for Bose confidence to be sky high next round..

Name: Everard Bartlett
Team: Perth Wildcats
Position: Point Guard
Height: 6ft 4
Rookie Rank: #2
Last Week: #2
Everard has played well for the Wildcats so far this year, and last round he provided great energy in limited minutes for the Cats. Perth beat Sydney by 11 points on Sunday thanks to their inside play but Bartlett again showed he belongs in the league – in under 14 minutes he scored  6 points on 2/3 shooting.  3 rebounds & 2 assists. Not bad for a young PG. Whilst i don’t expect him to over take in the rookie race, he will keep it interesting at least, even more so if he gets hot from 3 in a game.

Name: Chris Cedar
Team: Townsville Crocs
Position: Point Guard
Height: 6ft 0
Rookie Rank: #3
Last Week: #3
Chris provided some energy early in the Crocs loss to the Breakers. It looked like the game was over after the first quarter in NZ but the Breakers clawed back to win the game. Cedar played well early but faded off towards the end. He picked up 2 steals early in the game but missed both of his shot attempts. After the Crocs started to lose their big lead Cedar lost most of his court time to Eddie Gill in the hope that he could steady the sinking ship. Cedar only played a shade under 8 minutes for the game.

Name: Alex Gynes
Team: Sydney Kings
Position: Guard/Forward
Height: 6ft 6
Rookie Rank: #4
Last Week: #4
Gynes was inactive for round 8.

Name: Martin Iti
Team: Sydney Kings
Position: Center
Height: 7ft 0
Rookie Rank: #5
Last Week: #5
Iti played a combined 3 minutes over the weekend and picked up just one stat.  1 foul. I have seen Martin in practice and he looks like he can play if he improved on his foot work. But it looks like the Kings coaching staff and next to no confidence in Martin, whenever JK is in foul trouble they opt for a smaller line up rather than putting in Iti. So i don’t expect him to get many minutes regardless of foul trouble or injuries.

Name: Mitch Norton
Team: Townsville Crocodiles
Position: Guard
Height: 6ft 0
Rookie Rank: #6
Last Week: #6
Mitch is now activated and can play, but sitting on the bench behind one of the best guards in the league in Eddie Gill & behind fellow Rook Chris Cedar.
