– Where Basketball never stops

Rookie Report week 13

Name: Anatoly Bose
Team: Sydney Kings
Position: Forward
Height: 6ft 6
Rookie Rank: #1
Last Week: #1
Bose stepped it up big time last round, showing he’s a lock in for ROTY. Even though the Kings were blown out at home by the 36ers, Bose still managed to get 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal & 1 block. He did score  12 points (second on the team) but he shot the ball at just 27%. The next night he backed it up with a stellar game with 23 points, 7 rebounds & 2 steals. He should the ball much better at 60% from the field. The Hawks had no answer for Bose as he helped the Kings build an early lead. If the Kings are to win, they need Bose to be that second option, and he can be.

Name: Everard Bartlett
Team: Adelaide 36ers
Position: Point Guard
Height: 6ft 4
Rookie Rank: #2
Last Week: #2
Everard is going to be a hot free agent at the end of the season, i’ve made it known that i’m a huge fan of his game. And this week he showed up to play again. He played 26 minutes, picking up  10 points, 4 assists & 1 steal on 50% shooting. He’s turning into a solid back up guard in the NBL, but I think could turn into a starter given the righ system and coaching staff. With two new teams coming into the NBL next year, i sure hope he gets a job. He’s got the talent.

Name: Greg Hire
Team: Perth Wildcats
Position: Forward
Height: 6ft 6
Rookie Rank: #3
Last Week: #3
Greg barely showed up this week against the Crocs, it appears. I didn’t get to see the game as it wasn’t televised but judging from his stat line it looks like I didn’t miss too much – 1 rebound & 1 turnover. That’s it.

Name: Chris Cedar
Team: Townsville Crocs
Position: Point Guard
Height: 6ft 0
Rookie Rank: #4
Last Week: #4
See Greg Hire. But 0/4 shooting, 2 assists, 2 turnovers. Eddie Gill strugged agains the Wildcats (going 1/11), they could of used some energy from Cedar!

Name: Alex Gynes
Team: Sydney Kings
Position: Guard/Forward
Height: 6ft 6
Rookie Rank: #5
Last Week: #6
Alex managed to get some minutes this week, he played a little over 15 minutes against the 36ers and under 4 minutes against the Hawks. Neither game stood out for the young south coast junior. He picked up 2 points, 2 rebounds, 2 turnovers & 1 steal in a loss against the 36ers. Then backed it up against the Hawks, in limited minutes he scored  5 points on 2/2 shooting.

Name: Martin Iti
Team: Sydney Kings
Position: Center
Height: 7ft 0
Rookie Rank: #6
Last Week: #7
Iti managed to pick up NBL career highs this weekend after Khazzouh found himself in early foul trouble against Adelaide. Iti scored  4 points and picked up  2 rebounds,  whilst playing 9 minutes in the loss. Iti looked good out on the court, although whenever he would make a good play he would often back it up with a sloppy one. So some work is still needed. Hopefully he gets more chances as the season goes on, so he can secure a roster spot next season

Name: Mitch Norton
Team: Townsville Crocodiles
Position: Guard
Height: 6ft 0
Rookie Rank: #7
Last Week: #5
Norton has re-injured his foot. He is expected to return late in the season..
