Melbourne Tigers import shortlist

Chris Alexander

The Melbourne Tigers are going to announce their second import this week, Treevor Gleeson went on SEN Radio this morning to have a chat about the Ubaka situation and other signings.

Gleeson said that the new import (yet to be signed but close) is coming from China and played with former Dragon and finals MVP, Donta Smith, won or went to a championship in the CBA as well.
So we made a short list of notable players who played with Donta during his time in China:

Chris Richards: Most likely Richards, plays Power Forward. 70 games in the NBA for the T’Wolves and the Bulls.

Sean Banks: Also a Forward, can play the wing. But will likely be a power forward in the NBL. Has bounced around a number of NBDL teams in America.

Reginald Butler: A true big man that played with Smith in China. But may be a bit old. Unlikely.

Sean Banks: Currently in the NBDL, but also played with Smith in the CBA. A wing man that can play in the post. Will likely be a power forward in the NBL.

Chris Alexander: 7″1, would dominate the NBL in rebounds and block shots. Just what the Tigers need. Has moved around a few NBDL teams and well traveled.

My pick? I would sign Alexander or Richards. Both can rebound and block shots. Moving Trig to the 4 where he is more comfortable.
