[Guest Blog - Sean Walsh] Clint Steindl- The Mackay Kid

Published on May 31, 2012 by   ·   No Comments

Clint Steindl is no stranger to the big games of basketball. The prolific Shooting Guard  from Mackay has been signed by the Cairns Taipans for the 2012/13 season on the back of some excellent form at St Mary’s College in the NCAA. He played four season’s over at the Gaelic’s in which he racked up 122 games. During his time at the Gaelic’s he finished 6th in the all time most three pointers made (185) Before this Clint played two years at the Australian Institute of sport in the SEABL. One of his biggest achievements would be being selected for Australia in the 2011 World University Games. As a Junior he represented Queensland in the 2008 National Championships.

Clint has been a massive signing for the Cairns Taipans as he is already been talked about as internationaly renouned three point shooting specialist. This is a massive gain for the Taipans as one of the things that they lacked last year was the ability to land the three point shots. In 2011 at St Mary’s Clint landed 60 three pointers and  averaged .420 from the three point line. He isn’t just a three point shooter he’s also a very good defensivly and is very capable of setting up very good screens against Forwards  much bigger than him. He joins signing’s Cameron Gliddon and Cameron  Tragardh to line up for the Taipans in 2012/13
