Blaze set deadline.. Future in doubt

Published on July 2, 2012 by   ·   No Comments

Some bad news coming from the Gold Coast.. The new investor was unable to provide the required funds for the team to stay in the NBL competition, as reported by Daniel Meers from the Gold Coast Bulletin via Twitter tonight.

The Blaze will have until the 13th of July 2012 to find a new investor, if this does not happen the team will return their NBL license back to Basketball Australia and obviously withdraw from the iiNet NBL challenge.

Late last week the team had released their contracted players. This means Mark Worthington, Chris Goulding, Anthony Petrie & Adam Gibson are free to sign with any NBL team that can fit them under their respective caps. Daniel Dillon had also committed to the Blaze after cutting ties with the Melbourne Tigers, he is also seeking another contract with an unnamed NBL team.

Mark Worthington has made it known he will not be back no matter what happens with the team. Chris Goulding & Anthony Petrie were waiting for tonight outcome & Adam Gibson has kept quiet about his situation.

Deadline: July 13th 2012.
