Tigers release Dorsey

Published on August 2, 2012 by   ·   No Comments

The Melbourne Tigers have announced that they have released import Ron Dorsey from his contract. This news comes after a week of rumours about his departure.

Dorsey played last year for the Melbourne Tigers, but came under fire by fans earlier in the year when he took a back seat to Patty Mills. After his departure, team mate and friend Aiynde Ubaka was fired from the team. This created a PR nightmare for the team, which likely saved Ron from being cut during the year.

After a slow start to 2011-12 Dorsey finished the year strong averaging 11ppg, 1.3apg & 3.4rpg for the year. But those stats were down from his debut NBL season in 2010-11 when he played for the Taipans and averaged 13ppg, 1.4spg & 4.9rpg. Helping the team to their first ever NBL finals.

After playing for the Tigers last season Dorsey went to New Zealand & won a NZ NBL title.

It is currently unknown if he intends on seeking another NBL contract or not.
