With the NBL free agency almost over, a few players remain on the free agent list and are in danger of missing out on making a roster for the 2012-13 season. The highest profiled one being former Wildcat big man, Luke Nevill.
Nevill has been spending the off season in America playing in the summer league. His agent Tyler Glass told ATF late last week that “..He has had a very productive summer with the Timberwolves and Orlando Magic..”
Luke played 3 games for the Magic during the summer league in Vegas. He averaged 2ppg, 0.3bpg in 6mpg. He also played just the 1 game with the Timberwolves where he pulled down 2 rebounds in 7 minutes of play.
So it looks like Nevill will be heading to Europe as Glass mentions “At this point we have interest from teams in different countries of Europe”.. But there is still a chance he could return to the NBL this year as Glass also mentions that a return as not been ruled out.
The only thing that’s stopping Nevill’s return to the NBL is the lack of roster spots for a player rated 8 points. The Breakers, Kings & Wildcats can not fit him in under their cap. The 36ers could use an import slot but with their front locked up the chances of that happening are slim to none. Same goes for the Taipans & Tigers. The only NBL teams that can fit him under the points cap & have spots open at his position are the Townsville Crocs & Wollongong Hawks.
Rumours are that Nevill had said he would sign with the Blaze if his NBA try outs were unsuccessful.
