The Adelaide 36ers have announced that they will remain in Adelaide Arena for the 2012-13 season, after 36ers CEO Leeanne Grantham sent out an email today:
The Adelaide 36ers are pleased to have received news today that indicates they will remain at the Adelaide Arena for the duration of the 2012-13 NBL season.
I received a phone call this morning from Ferrier Hodgson, agents of the Commonwealth Bank, to advise they will, on Monday, receive formal lease documents.
It was the news that we have all been waiting for – it’s a huge relief for us.
Today’s verbal advice indicates that the Club will remain at the basketball venue for the coming season.
This comes after the commonwealth bank were flooded with tweets about the 36ers lease, as well as a Facebook page starting (so far over 400 likes) in the hope to save Adelaide Arena.
But another NBL team are still having issues securing a new home post 2012-13. The Sydney Kings will be homeless after this season after it was revealed earlier this year that the Kingdome will be out of action for 3 seasons due to a multi billion dollar development to Sydney harbour. No official announcement has been made yet, but many believe the Kings will head to Home bush for three years.
