Michael Cooper’s Australian visit in ’88

A lot of NBL fans mid-30s or younger may not know this – but former Laker and NBA defensive player of the year Michael Cooper came to Australia in the late 80s and spent some time with the Perth Wildcats.

Cooper didn’t play for the Wildcats but he was brought over by a private investor in 1988 to help out the Wildcats. He trained and coached the Wildcats for a brief couple of weeks.

Ha - met him in Adelaide and asked him to sign my Lakers hat. He was blown away that I knew who he was. He had no idea the NBA was on TV in Australia
