Rotnei Clarke Letter To Fans

CLARKE

Earlier today we announced that last seasons league MVP Rotnei Clarke had decided to play in Belgium next season and thus will not be playing in the NBL next season. Rotnei has since sent us this letter to post for all fans to read:

I just want to thank the City and people of Wollongong for being so accepting for the short period of time that I was there. The coaches and my teammates played such a huge role in just being able to play and have fun while playing. I would not have wanted to be anywhere else my first year of playing professionally! It was the best experience of my life so far. Before I made the decision to go to Wollongong I thought about how far it was from home and how hard it was going to be. The time flew by because I enjoyed myself and had so much fun.

I want to give special thanks to certain people who really made a difference while I was in Wollongong…

I would have never been in Wollongong if it wasn’t for the organization and the coaches first and foremost! I want to thank Cookie Flinny and Geordie…Flinny found me in the recruiting process and I want to thank him, the coaches, and the organization for taking a chance on me when not alot of people would!

I want to thank my teammates for accepting me and making me feel welcome! It meant the world knowing my teammates had my back…I made some great friends and learned alot from those guys..

I want to thank The Rev for playing a huge role in my life off the court with my faith and keeping me humbled and grounded..I want to thank lifehouse church for being a temporary church for me to worship while I was in Wollongong…I want to thank Timmy Coenraad for also being there to help me with my faith and keeping me with a positive mindset!

I want to thank Sue Paulic and her family especially for everthing they did for Kevin and I…If it wasn’t for their family I don’t know how I would have made it! They are awesome and I love them…..I want to thank Dan Muller for the constant support and encouragement he gave me from the second I arrived in Wollongong.. I want to thank the Obrien family for helping me continue to keep my work ethic…they literally made me apart of there family and opened the gym for me every single day and allowed me to get in extra work and shots…I couldn’t thank them enough for that!……I want to thank tyson, dom, and Jordan for their close friendship throughout the year…those guys were awesome guys to be around and made it fun to play the game….

I really appreciated everything you did as well! The encouragement throughout the year was greatly appreciated!! In my heart Wollongong and the Hawks will always have a special place!

God bless
Rotnei Clarke

Here’s hoping the NBL see’s Rotnei again sometime soon!

We would have him in Cairns anytime he was awesome to watch and he well and truly deserved the all round MVP tag. Hope to see him back at some stage wearing orange would be a bonus.

As a Kings fan I guess I'm suppose to dislike him but I can't, top player and guy off the court. Wish him the best of luck in Belgium.
